Is this service for me?
Our individual counselling and psychotherapy sessions involve talking to a trained practitioner about how you feel about yourself and your situation. The therapist will listen and help you explore your problem by considering how your personality and life experiences influence how you currently feel and are coping with different situations. This can lead to a new level of understanding which will help you manage change and deal with difficult situations in the future.

If you have recently been bereaved or have gone through a difficult situation, such a job loss or illness that has left you feeling unable to cope with day-to-day life we offer a specialist bereavement or loss service to help you discover how to move on.
If you feel that your current low mood and feelings are impacting on your relationship with your partner, you may want to consider NHS Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression – Couple Counselling or Relationship Counselling services to find out more.
What type of talking therapies do you offer?
The majority of therapists in the 1point network broadly offer a humanistic approach to their work. This focuses on improving self-development, identifying personal strengths and making positive choices. Our ethos is to make a distinction between mental illness and mental distress, which most of us experience when we live through situations which seem beyond our control.
How many ongoing sessions will I have with a counsellor?
This depends on the issues you want to discuss and what help you may have already accessed elsewhere. We find that the average number of therapy appointments most people access is eight, but if required sessions can be extended or shortened depending on how you experience this process. If you are not sure whether a talking therapy approach is right for you at this time, why not try a ‘One at a Time’ therapy session to find out more.
What does this service cost?
This Therapy is part of 1point’s Silverwellbeing services – a suite of confidential and independently managed talking therapy support to help improve wellbeing and resilience in all our communities.
These therapeutic services are for people and organisations who would prefer to self-refer themselves directly to support rather than discussing their issues with a GP or health care worker first.
Current funding allows us to offer most services free of charge to you, but we welcome donations to help the 1point Network continue this valuable support. If there is a set cost to a service you will be informed in advance.
